My Extended Valentine's Day :)

so i know it's like, five days past valentine's day, but i'm just now blogging about it.  just go with it.

well, as you know, my boo lives 5000 miles away in the father land (or germany, as i like to call it), which means we had to spend our first vday apart.  which could have been a bummer, but a) i missed him like crazy before the day and i missed him like crazy after the day, so the actual day wasn't that much worse and b) sending each other physical packages in the mail across the atlantic turned out to be really fun.  so i sent him a package and i knew he was sending a package, but i wasn't expecting to get a GORGEOUS delivery of roses the saturday before valentines day too!  seriously, how beautiful are these?

and today (yeah, a little late, but sometimes that's what happens when you mail stuff overseas) i got the SWEETEST package in the mail :)  seriously....i have the sweetest boyfriend in the entire world.  so first of all it was in this precious red box tied up with a red ribbon (i asked, and yes, he did this all himself haha) - impressive, no?!

and that picture on the top is the SWEETEST card you've ever read in your life.  this is the picture on the front:

how cute is that??? and INSIDE were all these individually wrapped goodies :) first of all, just the fact that they were individually wrapped was the cutest thing ever.  haha.  and second of all, two of them involved delicious german chocolate (boy knows the way to my heart)!!  so yeah...five days after valentines day, i am still getting presents!  hollaaaaa!
and there is a very, very good possibility that i might get the best belated valentine's day present ever in about 11 days...he might actually get to fly over for a week!!!  i'm trying my hardest not to get too excited until it is for sure, but ggeeeeezzzz.  that would be so amazing.

so stay tuuunneeeddd!  and happy valentine's day :)

Another Openin', Another Show

well, yesterday was the last day of wonderette's performances y'all.  i can't actually believe it....it feels like this show has actually taken over my life for the past month and a half so it's strange to just be done with it.  it's that thing you go through at the close of most every show (unless you absolutely hate it)...that no matter how time consuming and how stressful a process might have been, you have ultimately grown comfortable in it and the routine itself.  that combined with the bonds you've formed with the cast (especially if they're all moving away immediately after) makes leaving it a bit emotional.  so here is how i deal with these days:

i don't.  yep, i pretend like it's just another day and that i'll see them all the next day to do it all again, and then i just let it hit me a couple days after when i'm home by myself.  it's much better that way.  no one likes sad and crying goodbyes, so it's better to just basically run out to your car and not give yourself much time to feel anything.

the transition out of wonderettes will be different that most others though b/c i'm literally diving right into tech week for leader of the pack.  we open on friday. how insane is that?  so now i can officially switch gears, only focus on one show, and gear up for a killer opening night.  it's kind of a relief to just have one show in my brain!

sooooo, now it is on to leader of the pack, which i am EXTREMELY excited about.  here's a little snipit i took from rehearsal last night - just to give you a feel for the beauty of this set.  it's not even close to be done yet as far as snazzing it out goes, but i'm telling you it's going to be BALLIN.  excuse my singing directly into the phone mic. normally we'll be singing that stuff in the wings, but for now we were all out in the house.  also, googie is a fool. which is clearly why he was cast. haha.

everyone needs to come out and see this one if you can!  it's going to be visual candy and audio heaven.  sensory overload in the best of ways.  also, i get to wear a leather corset and hot pants....which is reason enough. i'm just sayin.

She Works Hard for the Money

yeah. it's true.  i happen to be running myself into the ground at the moment doing two shows AT THE SAME TIME. am i insane??? i think i am.  so you all know about Wonderette's, but i'm also now in rehearsals for a show with the atlanta lyric theatre called Leader of the Pack (gonna be hot).  so what this means is shows on the weekend and rehearsals during the week.  and by the time i open leader of the pack, i will have gone 5 straight weeks without a SINGLE day or night off.  not a single one.  i mean i can do it, but at this point it's a bit of a mind game.  i have to convince myself i'm not tired so that i can even focus on the task at hand.  i really am having a blast with both of these shows, but somebody please remind me to never do this to myself again! haha.

speaking of wonderette's though, here is a sweet pic of the cast and our director Dawne from opening night.  i really love these girls :)  so much talent and such sweet spirits.

oh and here's a lovely little backstage video i took on one of our two show saturday's.  we were a TINY bit hyper that day apparently.  haha.

i also took a video in leader of the pack rehearsals one day.  it was a music rehearsal and i wanted to document a bit of the process while i wasn't actually singing and i happened to catch our sweet caroline in all her candid glory.  she loves me for posting this.

i have one more show lined up to do after leader of the pack closes, which is going to be so great, but i have to say that once it closes i am REALLY looking forward to having free time again.  and i'm sure my boyfriend will be thrilled as well to have more than 45 min a day to talk to me.  and to be able to talk to me when i am not eating at the same time....hahaha.  i just remind him that multitasking like that is a SERIOUS life skill, so he should be proud.

in other news I NEED TO WORK OUT. i have had to put aside my gym habit quite a bit to be able have at least an hour a day to just sit and breathe, but i need to get it together.  i'm sure my dance partner in the show would appreciate this as well considering he has to throw me around like a ragdoll.

so basically, everyone just pray that i suvive this madness without becoming a crazy person.  and in the meantime if you are my friend and i have dropped off the face of the earth, just know that i love you and will be BACK, i promise!

BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!

Well...i'm sure many of you were probably wondering what the heck happened to me being that it has been TWENTY THOUSAND YEARS since i last posted.  do not fret. I AM ALIVE! and despite the debbie downer-ness of my last post, i have had a pretty amazing last three (and a half) weeks.

SO let's rewiinnndddd back to the funk.   things were apparently pretty rough for me that day.  but ya know....we're all entitled to have those days right??

anyway, right after that i jumped RIGHT into Wonderette's rehearsal and began the whole show mode thing.  you know how that goes.  thennn came the snow.  the snow that turned into ice and totally shut down the entire city of Atlanta.  yeah.  this snow:

this would be my rooftop

this snowy rooftop soon turned to treacherous ice though, so don't think it's so pretty.  exhibit A:

and while it was pretty awesome to get to work from home 4 days in a row, that ice almost ruined EVERYTHING.  how you ask??? well i will tell you.  do you remember a few posts back, when i mentioned having a lovely night with a special someone?  well that someone would be a really amazing guy who i am just a little crazy about.  we will call him peter.  which is convenient b/c that is his name.

peter was supposed to be coming over for a date the night the snow/ice hit, but it almost didn't happen b/c the whole city was shut down and the roads were totally iced over.  he was in norcross (about 20 min away) so this was very bad.  SOMEHOW though (the boy is determined), he managed to find the one running taxi in the city and got to my apt where we had the most lovely pizza date :)  but let's rewind a bit first....

here's the story on peter (get ready for it b/c it is crazy).  rewind almost 7 and a half years ago to uga freshman orientation.  18 year old courtney and 18 year old peter meet when their orientation groups combine.  courtney notices peter almost immediately b/c he is super cute (the cutest of all in fact).  so she is ELATED when he decides to turn around and start talking to her as they are walking on one of the campus tours (by the way, i only remember all of these details b/c i happened to write three entire entries about him in my diary. yes i used to keep a dairy.).  they spend the entire time together, have some pretty memorable moments and everything seems to be going swimmingly. courtney is thinking she pretty much has found her college boyfriend already.  well, don't so excited just yet.  because peter, who is half german, finds out AT orientation that he has been accepted to a school in germany that he really wants to go to.  SO, he tells courtney that he's probably going to go there. and by probably he means definitely.  courtney is devastated, but thinks well....what can ya do?  a week later, peter drives down (quite a long way i might add) to take courtney on a date.  it is really sweet and she really likes him a lot, but they both  know they will likely never see each other again and say goodbye.

that story would suck so bad if it was the end......but it is not :)

so college happens. and there is zero communication for seven and a half years (it was in the dark ages before facebook).  fast forward to present day (this past summer actually), when courtney decides to randomly look peter up on facebook...ya know...just out of curiousity. and i know sometimes curiosity hurts the kitty (we don't say kills around our kitties), but in this case i would say it definitely paid off :)  sure enough, there he was. cute as ever. and still in germany.  courtney sends the friend request, and the rest is history!  ALTHOUGH - let me just point out that at first peter did not remember who she was.  so rude.

but anyway, that's the background info for ya.  he came home for christmas/the new year and we got to spend some time together then.  he was originally supposed to leave a couple days after our snow day date, but by that point he had decided to rebook his flight and stay an extra 2 weeks (smart boy ;)).  so he stayed, we had some amazing times and to make a VERY long story short, now he is my boyfriend.   i won't get too mushy about everything on this first introduction blog, but let's just say i am a very, very happy girl :)  lots of things happening....lots of plans being made.  the first goal being to be in the same PLACE.  or the same time zone even would be a step in the right direction!  haha.

here are some pics/videos we took while he was in ATL - wish we had taken more, b/c some of these i look kind of busted, but it's the best i could do. i was tired okay?  he's cute though so i'll deal with it.

at hudson grill where we met up with chasey!

we had fondue one night, and baked some delicious bread to go with it, but peter had a bit of an incident with the broiler...and i say peter b/c it was totally his fault.  haha.

like a good boyfriend, he came to opening night of The Marvelous Wonderettes :) here we are all spiffed up at the after party.

and of course, we have to have a self timed picture.  good ole photobooth.  gets the job done.

he's pretty cute i guess.... ;)
so yeah... there ya have it.  now you know peter :)  and the perpetually single girl is no longer single.  IT'S A MIRACLE!!!

but now it is my bed time so i will say (in my best german accent), gute nacht and sweet dreaaammmsss!

In a funk

So today (and yesterday) have been not my faves.  This is for a number of reasons.

A) i feel super bloats today. tmi? i don't care. this is my blog and i have decided that i am going to say what is EXACTLY going through my mind today. and i happen to be feeling especially large and in charge in a very uncomfortable way. and today WOULD be the day i have to get measurements taken for my new show (Marvelous Wonderettes).  of course it would. THISALWAYSHAPPENSTOME. WHYYYYY???!

B) my workout yesterday almost killed me.  not in the good way either.  i really felt so horrible. haven't had a workout that made me feel that sick in a LONG time. i'm sure it was because i ate pretty badly this weekend and my body was retaliating, but regardless. it was so brutal and i don't even feel that awesome today.

C) on top of my feeling bloats i didn't get to workout today b/c of my insane schedule.  which makes me feel even more bloats.

D) left my computer charger at home on sunday so it has been dead the past two days. i rely a lot on my computer.

E) even though i got a LOT of sleep last night, i woke up looking so atrocious!  seriously. i looked like i hadn't slept in DAYS.  what is the deal??? what does a girl have to do to get rid of the bags under her eyes?  cucumbers? does that really work? cause if so, i have the biggest cucumber you've ever seen in my fridge right now.  i'm not even joking...i should post a picture.

F) i'm having an episode of anxiety again.  making up scenarios in my mind that someone is mad at me because they haven't returned my calls...so dumb, b/c there's no way they could be and they have never once done something like that.  i know this, but my mind does it anyway.  again, this is residual of a very bad friendship i had for way too many years.  i literally have to pray away those thoughts and feelings or they will consume me. it's an issue i hide very well, but it is definitely an issue.

i think that is most of the reasons.  but mostly i'm just in a funk. it is uncontrollable.  so all these things seem to be a BIG HUGE DEAL when they're really not.  i know. i'm being ridiculous, you can just say it.  this too shall pass, right?on a good note though, had lunch today with my mom and sister and it was delightful :)  great times and great food and we talked about all kinds of wonderful girly things.  that is a great lunch, i say! it has definitely improved my day and my mood.

OKAY, vent session is over officially. i am turning this frown upside down.  if you are in your own kind of funk right now, i have a couple videos that will help get rid of yours too.  here we go:

i am obsessed with this kid.  how sweet and precious is he???  he is just so happy!  i am not kidding when i say that i want him for my son.

GAAHHHH it seriously warms my heart every time!!!  oh to have not a care in the world.  that must be what heaven will be like.  pure, unadulterated giddiness.  ICAN'TWAIT.

and then there's this. an oldie but GOODIE and one of my favorites of chaseypoo.  should make you pee yourself:

k that is all for now. bye bye!

Christmas Is Over??? Devastating.

okay y'all.  i'm just going to admit that i'm watching avalon high (the disney channel movie) and it is seriously good.  am i lame for enjoying this??  i don't care.

so christmas is officially over (unless you are going by the 12 days of christmas in which case it apparently goes until the 6th? ).  its always kind of depressing b/c all the warm fuzzies that just bounced around in the air all month suddenly dissipate and life goes back to normal.  lame.  also, i really love christmas decorations.  why can't we have fun decorations like that all the time?  why can't we always have giant lit up and ornamented trees in our houses??? speaking of which, my resident starbucks guy was telling me all about the FOUR christmas trees he has in his house.  showed me pics of them today...they are intense. BEAUTIFUL. belong in magazines. and intense. it took him 9 HOURS just to put the LIGHTS on one of them.  insanity.

all in all though, i had a lovely christmas this year!  got to spend about 5 days at home with the fam and it was a grand time.  here are few pics to commemorate and quickly sum it all up:
before heading to washington (ga) to visit grandpa, we realized we accidentally
dressed in coordinating christmas colors.  typical.

GRAMPS!

did some double cartwheels.  a childhood favesie.

jordan decided to restrain me like a child with a behavior disorder and mental disability.  rude.

so i retaliated by frolicking. and blocking her face.

punched haley. just cause.

godwin family christmas tree! so cozy :)

then it SNOWED on CHRISTMAS DAY!! amazing.

so there ya go. you're welcome. i know you enjoyed those pics.

and i'm sure everyone is just dying to know what all i got and what was my favorite present, etc etc (cause that's what people always ask right?).  well, i know this makes me an old lady but i was SO excited to get a food processor (a REALLY nice one too) and a fondue set that i wanted.  like...you don't understand how excited i get about those things. i wanted a fondue set so badly that i may or may not have gone out and bought the necessary ingredients for a killer cheese fondue BEFORE christmas and BEFORE i knew i was getting it....way before.

ANYWHO. i have to say the most hilarious present i got was a particular ring. hahaha. okay, if you follow my blog at all and watched my video blog from a couple weeks ago (the one in front of the christmas tree) you will remember that i have always had an infatuation with prince william.  it was especially intense in my early teenage years and so with this whole engagement thing i was a bit devastated.  regardless, i knew all the deets and knew that the ring he gave her was actually princess diana's wedding/engagement ring.  you know it...the GIANT sapphire surrounded by diamonds?  well. my mother knows me ALL too well, knew that i would know exactly what that ring was and so she and dad got me an exact replica (not of real sapphire and diamonds OBVIOUSLY, but not costume jewelry either).  HAHAH! how amazing is that? i am obsessed with it.

BOOM BABY.  just call me princess courtney.

THEN,  i came back to ATL and had a lovely reunion with a very special someone from A LONG time ago.  uga freshman orientation in fact.  lonnnng story, but it was a wonderful evening.  i'm very much looking forward to seeing where this goes and am definitely looking forward to a repeat. :)

and the next day i got to see him again, meet a friend of his, AND see chase off on his last night in ATL before he went back to new york!  it wasn't even planned that way, but we ended up right next door to where chase was (at a sports bar "watching the falcons game"...haha)!  DESTINY.  so we stopped by there for a bit to hang out.  it was seriously such a fun night with great company and i was so, so, SO happy to have that time with chasey.  he is my heart :)

SPEAKING OF CHASE.  hahahahahah. he is going to kill me for this, but i have got to share a video he made for me.  i got this in an email at work and literally was covering my mouth as i laughed OUT LOUD at his complete foolishness.  the body of the email read "As I move back to NYC, my thoughts are best expressed by the one and only, CĂ©line Dion...."  brace yourselves.  i love this boy so much i can hardly stand it.  and here is why:

and with that, i will conclude this blog post.  lots of exciting things happening in my life at the moment, but i will explore those more in later posts :)

love to you all!

Thankful for My Twinsie

i just had the BEST night with the best friend a girl could ask for.  chase and i really do have this insane bond that i can't even completely describe, but it is never more apparent than on nights like tonight.  all we did was go eat (at an amazing restaurant called flip burger), nothing special.  but i don't think we stopped talking for more than 15 seconds!  we really talked about some soul searching stuff too...stuff that just reminded me that that boy knows me.  i mean, REALLY knows me.  it's so comforting knowing that i don't have to put up any kind of defenses around him.  it's just safe.  that's the best word to describe it.

not many people other than my family know this, but that fact is especially meaningful to me given my friendship history, particularly with one person who is no longer in my life.  i've recently realized that they really did a number on me.  they were extremely manipulative and destructive and i have to constantly remind myself that not everyone is like that.  not everyone is going to react to things the way they did and treat me the way i was treated.  even knowing this though, i still find myself bracing for impact.  i have pretty significant anxiety issues centering around approval and people being upset with me (or me thinking they are upset with me) and i would go so far to say that they are probably almost completely a result of that friendship.  so anyway, all this to say, that with friendships like chase's (and several others that are so special to me), i am reminded over and over again and blessed i am to have a true, honest friendship that is not going to turn on me in an instant.

WOW, SERIOUS BLOG. sorry....haha. didn't mean for THAT to happen.  i should probably say something funny now.

OH, how bout i tell a story that had me and chase ROLLING tonight.  we were reminiscing on a particular evening this past summer....chase, myself and our friend caitlin were carpooling on our way back from a rehearsal and we were well into a very serious conversation about a topic we were rather heated about at the moment (not heated at each other, just heated in general).  anyway, i was in the backseat, passionately talking about my thoughts on the subject and at one point meant to say "i mean, it's a DIFFERENT CITY," but instead of city, i was thinking "town" in my head and it literally came out "i mean, it's a DIFFERENT TITTY."

hahahaha.  yeah, we waited about a nanosecond before ERUPTING in laughter.  part of it was that chase knows how much i hate that word and never say it, so the fact that it came out of MY mouth was hysterical.  like, chase literally turned around (as he was driving) and pointed at me going "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHOHOHOHHAHAHAOHOHO!"

interpret that as you will.  try to say it out loud if you want to even.

well that is a much better note to end this blog on i think.  i'm laughing to myself now just thinking about that moment....hahaha. such good memories :)
