My Extended Valentine's Day :)

so i know it's like, five days past valentine's day, but i'm just now blogging about it.  just go with it.

well, as you know, my boo lives 5000 miles away in the father land (or germany, as i like to call it), which means we had to spend our first vday apart.  which could have been a bummer, but a) i missed him like crazy before the day and i missed him like crazy after the day, so the actual day wasn't that much worse and b) sending each other physical packages in the mail across the atlantic turned out to be really fun.  so i sent him a package and i knew he was sending a package, but i wasn't expecting to get a GORGEOUS delivery of roses the saturday before valentines day too!  seriously, how beautiful are these?

and today (yeah, a little late, but sometimes that's what happens when you mail stuff overseas) i got the SWEETEST package in the mail :)  seriously....i have the sweetest boyfriend in the entire world.  so first of all it was in this precious red box tied up with a red ribbon (i asked, and yes, he did this all himself haha) - impressive, no?!

and that picture on the top is the SWEETEST card you've ever read in your life.  this is the picture on the front:

how cute is that??? and INSIDE were all these individually wrapped goodies :) first of all, just the fact that they were individually wrapped was the cutest thing ever.  haha.  and second of all, two of them involved delicious german chocolate (boy knows the way to my heart)!!  so yeah...five days after valentines day, i am still getting presents!  hollaaaaa!
and there is a very, very good possibility that i might get the best belated valentine's day present ever in about 11 days...he might actually get to fly over for a week!!!  i'm trying my hardest not to get too excited until it is for sure, but ggeeeeezzzz.  that would be so amazing.

so stay tuuunneeeddd!  and happy valentine's day :)

Another Openin', Another Show

well, yesterday was the last day of wonderette's performances y'all.  i can't actually believe it....it feels like this show has actually taken over my life for the past month and a half so it's strange to just be done with it.  it's that thing you go through at the close of most every show (unless you absolutely hate it)...that no matter how time consuming and how stressful a process might have been, you have ultimately grown comfortable in it and the routine itself.  that combined with the bonds you've formed with the cast (especially if they're all moving away immediately after) makes leaving it a bit emotional.  so here is how i deal with these days:

i don't.  yep, i pretend like it's just another day and that i'll see them all the next day to do it all again, and then i just let it hit me a couple days after when i'm home by myself.  it's much better that way.  no one likes sad and crying goodbyes, so it's better to just basically run out to your car and not give yourself much time to feel anything.

the transition out of wonderettes will be different that most others though b/c i'm literally diving right into tech week for leader of the pack.  we open on friday. how insane is that?  so now i can officially switch gears, only focus on one show, and gear up for a killer opening night.  it's kind of a relief to just have one show in my brain!

sooooo, now it is on to leader of the pack, which i am EXTREMELY excited about.  here's a little snipit i took from rehearsal last night - just to give you a feel for the beauty of this set.  it's not even close to be done yet as far as snazzing it out goes, but i'm telling you it's going to be BALLIN.  excuse my singing directly into the phone mic. normally we'll be singing that stuff in the wings, but for now we were all out in the house.  also, googie is a fool. which is clearly why he was cast. haha.

everyone needs to come out and see this one if you can!  it's going to be visual candy and audio heaven.  sensory overload in the best of ways.  also, i get to wear a leather corset and hot pants....which is reason enough. i'm just sayin.

She Works Hard for the Money

yeah. it's true.  i happen to be running myself into the ground at the moment doing two shows AT THE SAME TIME. am i insane??? i think i am.  so you all know about Wonderette's, but i'm also now in rehearsals for a show with the atlanta lyric theatre called Leader of the Pack (gonna be hot).  so what this means is shows on the weekend and rehearsals during the week.  and by the time i open leader of the pack, i will have gone 5 straight weeks without a SINGLE day or night off.  not a single one.  i mean i can do it, but at this point it's a bit of a mind game.  i have to convince myself i'm not tired so that i can even focus on the task at hand.  i really am having a blast with both of these shows, but somebody please remind me to never do this to myself again! haha.

speaking of wonderette's though, here is a sweet pic of the cast and our director Dawne from opening night.  i really love these girls :)  so much talent and such sweet spirits.

oh and here's a lovely little backstage video i took on one of our two show saturday's.  we were a TINY bit hyper that day apparently.  haha.

i also took a video in leader of the pack rehearsals one day.  it was a music rehearsal and i wanted to document a bit of the process while i wasn't actually singing and i happened to catch our sweet caroline in all her candid glory.  she loves me for posting this.

i have one more show lined up to do after leader of the pack closes, which is going to be so great, but i have to say that once it closes i am REALLY looking forward to having free time again.  and i'm sure my boyfriend will be thrilled as well to have more than 45 min a day to talk to me.  and to be able to talk to me when i am not eating at the same time....hahaha.  i just remind him that multitasking like that is a SERIOUS life skill, so he should be proud.

in other news I NEED TO WORK OUT. i have had to put aside my gym habit quite a bit to be able have at least an hour a day to just sit and breathe, but i need to get it together.  i'm sure my dance partner in the show would appreciate this as well considering he has to throw me around like a ragdoll.

so basically, everyone just pray that i suvive this madness without becoming a crazy person.  and in the meantime if you are my friend and i have dropped off the face of the earth, just know that i love you and will be BACK, i promise!

BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!

Well...i'm sure many of you were probably wondering what the heck happened to me being that it has been TWENTY THOUSAND YEARS since i last posted.  do not fret. I AM ALIVE! and despite the debbie downer-ness of my last post, i have had a pretty amazing last three (and a half) weeks.

SO let's rewiinnndddd back to the funk.   things were apparently pretty rough for me that day.  but ya know....we're all entitled to have those days right??

anyway, right after that i jumped RIGHT into Wonderette's rehearsal and began the whole show mode thing.  you know how that goes.  thennn came the snow.  the snow that turned into ice and totally shut down the entire city of Atlanta.  yeah.  this snow:

this would be my rooftop

this snowy rooftop soon turned to treacherous ice though, so don't think it's so pretty.  exhibit A:

and while it was pretty awesome to get to work from home 4 days in a row, that ice almost ruined EVERYTHING.  how you ask??? well i will tell you.  do you remember a few posts back, when i mentioned having a lovely night with a special someone?  well that someone would be a really amazing guy who i am just a little crazy about.  we will call him peter.  which is convenient b/c that is his name.

peter was supposed to be coming over for a date the night the snow/ice hit, but it almost didn't happen b/c the whole city was shut down and the roads were totally iced over.  he was in norcross (about 20 min away) so this was very bad.  SOMEHOW though (the boy is determined), he managed to find the one running taxi in the city and got to my apt where we had the most lovely pizza date :)  but let's rewind a bit first....

here's the story on peter (get ready for it b/c it is crazy).  rewind almost 7 and a half years ago to uga freshman orientation.  18 year old courtney and 18 year old peter meet when their orientation groups combine.  courtney notices peter almost immediately b/c he is super cute (the cutest of all in fact).  so she is ELATED when he decides to turn around and start talking to her as they are walking on one of the campus tours (by the way, i only remember all of these details b/c i happened to write three entire entries about him in my diary. yes i used to keep a dairy.).  they spend the entire time together, have some pretty memorable moments and everything seems to be going swimmingly. courtney is thinking she pretty much has found her college boyfriend already.  well, don't so excited just yet.  because peter, who is half german, finds out AT orientation that he has been accepted to a school in germany that he really wants to go to.  SO, he tells courtney that he's probably going to go there. and by probably he means definitely.  courtney is devastated, but thinks well....what can ya do?  a week later, peter drives down (quite a long way i might add) to take courtney on a date.  it is really sweet and she really likes him a lot, but they both  know they will likely never see each other again and say goodbye.

that story would suck so bad if it was the end......but it is not :)

so college happens. and there is zero communication for seven and a half years (it was in the dark ages before facebook).  fast forward to present day (this past summer actually), when courtney decides to randomly look peter up on facebook...ya know...just out of curiousity. and i know sometimes curiosity hurts the kitty (we don't say kills around our kitties), but in this case i would say it definitely paid off :)  sure enough, there he was. cute as ever. and still in germany.  courtney sends the friend request, and the rest is history!  ALTHOUGH - let me just point out that at first peter did not remember who she was.  so rude.

but anyway, that's the background info for ya.  he came home for christmas/the new year and we got to spend some time together then.  he was originally supposed to leave a couple days after our snow day date, but by that point he had decided to rebook his flight and stay an extra 2 weeks (smart boy ;)).  so he stayed, we had some amazing times and to make a VERY long story short, now he is my boyfriend.   i won't get too mushy about everything on this first introduction blog, but let's just say i am a very, very happy girl :)  lots of things happening....lots of plans being made.  the first goal being to be in the same PLACE.  or the same time zone even would be a step in the right direction!  haha.

here are some pics/videos we took while he was in ATL - wish we had taken more, b/c some of these i look kind of busted, but it's the best i could do. i was tired okay?  he's cute though so i'll deal with it.

at hudson grill where we met up with chasey!

we had fondue one night, and baked some delicious bread to go with it, but peter had a bit of an incident with the broiler...and i say peter b/c it was totally his fault.  haha.

like a good boyfriend, he came to opening night of The Marvelous Wonderettes :) here we are all spiffed up at the after party.

and of course, we have to have a self timed picture.  good ole photobooth.  gets the job done.

he's pretty cute i guess.... ;)
so yeah... there ya have it.  now you know peter :)  and the perpetually single girl is no longer single.  IT'S A MIRACLE!!!

but now it is my bed time so i will say (in my best german accent), gute nacht and sweet dreaaammmsss!
